You’re Aren’t Going To Cut Reggie Bush At $8 Million?

Winning the Super Bowl doesn’t exempt you from the laws of common sense.

Reggie Bush is owed $8 million next season.  I don’t think Kim Kardashian needs a ring THAT big, and I don’t understand why a team that has proven to be as savvy (even if I don’t like them) as the Saints would pay this dude $8 million.

Think about it:

Reggie had 70 carries for 390 yards this past season.  47 catches for 335 yards.  27 returns for 130 yards and no TD’s.  This is what the Saints are going to pay $8 million for?

I remember when Shaun Alexander was breaking records left and right for an average Seattle team and he had to MAKE them pay him by playing well in the last week of the season, but this dude who doesn’t do much…he’s like Perry the Platypus on “Phineas and Ferb”–is gonna make $8 million?

Am I missing something.  A little advice for the Saints.

When a guy’s salary becomes untenable you release him.  You know, if you liked him so much you release him and then re-sign him to a new contract that everyone can agree on that you like better.  It doesn’t mean he’s gone forever.  You could actually TELL him you’re cutting him and then get him right back to the bargaining table for a new deal.

What do you think he’s gonna do?  Walk?  Everyone in the league is smart enough to know that he ONE good game in the playoffs and that’s probably not worth the hassle of trying to pay him that much money.

Do you think he thinks that he can get more money elsewhere?  That’s called a delusion folks.

I know the Saints just won the Super Bowl, but they can afford to deal with Reggie Bush the way everyone else gets dealt with.  As much as I hate the Patriots…they did keep their team solvent for longer than normal because they didn’t mess around.  I can appreciate that.

Saints…please…don’t become another statistic.  (Although it would be funny if you did).
