Ryan Clark Might Be A Free Agent?

They were forged on shrewd business practices too…

Ryan Clark and the Pittsburgh Steelers are having a hard time coming to terms on a new contract before the free agent deadline.  Huh?

At first you might think that Clark is making outrageous demands since he’s plays opposite Troy Polamalu, but his agent is saying he knows he isn’t Troy:

“It’s not a situation with us where we’ve ever made any demands of any type that would be outrageous.  We wouldn’t ask for anything that would be considered greedy. We’ve not done anything that would be pretentious. We just want to be paid a fair wage for services not only rendered, but still to be.”

Honestly, I believe him.  However, this is the Rooneys and the Steelers.  They don’t play around.  They are the model franchise in all of sports for character and fiscal responsibility.  What else am I supposed to say?

They must have weighed their options.  Weighed what they think Clark brings to the table and perhaps they’re ready to move on.  I can’t say that I would question them in that.

However, Clark is a monster safety and if he hits the open market he is going to get PAID!

The shame out that is that Clark seems to want to stay in Pittsburgh and that’s looking unlikely.  It kinda sucks when you have to move on from the place you want to be.

If I were a team like the Falcons or the Chargers I’d be very excited to sign a guy like Clark.  If the Chargers are moving Cromartie then they can replace him with Clark.

The Falcons need depth in their backfield and Clark would certainly provide that “spark” that they need in the defensive backfield.

Someone is going to benefit, but I don’t think Ryan Clark will be happy about it.  I almost feel sorry for him…until I realize he’s already a millionaire…
