Michigan Leads Nation In Average Attendance

Michigan led the nation last year in both total attendance (871,464) and average home attendance (108,933), followed by Penn State (856,066 total; 107,008 average).

Ohio State and Texas also averaged more than 100,000 fans per home game.

Despite having the top three spots for average home attendance, that was not enough for the Big Ten to wrestle the title of most watched conference away from the SEC which had an average attendance of 76,288. The Big Ten’s average attendance was 71,769.

Overall, almost 48.3 million fans attended games at the 630 NCAA schools, including home, neutral-site and postseason games. That’s down about 1 percent from the 48.8 million in 2008.
