Cromartie Might Get Sent To Detroit

So much for that Chargers uniform…

The Chargers and Lions are close to a trade that could send Antonio Cromartie from San Diego to Detroit.  Yes, Cromartie used to play for Detroit, but this sounds a little extreme to simply allow your current (fairly good team) to send you to a colder and crappier place and team.

Cromartie has said that he has been complaining about how the Chargers play defense to the coaches for years.  Really?  I mean, what else could they ask for?  You’re probably the best defensive player on the team and they won’t listen to you?  Does this prove my point about Norv Turner or what?

This guy is willing to leave sunny San Diego for Detroit because it might be “time for a change”?  Wow!  There’s got to be something wrong with the defense in San Digeo, but what is it?  Cromartie probably has a legitimate gripe…

If you watched the Chargers give away their season to the Jets you no doubt saw a decent Jets offense run all over the place on the Chargers.  Is Cromartie saying that the Chargers aren’t physical enough.  Not tough enough?  Interesting.

Moreover, if he’s been complaining to the coaches for a while, was that Norv Turner’s staff?  The whole time?  Is A.J. Smith overlooking something in letting this guy go?  Wouldn’t it be smarter to go to the source–Norv Turner–and say, “You know, this kid has been bitching up a storm.  What’s the problem?”

Do we think A.J. Smith did that?  Nope.  Probably would have helped.  Do we think Norv Turner has been ignoring obvious issues on his team that Cromartie has been pointing out?  Yes.  Could Cromartie have probably complained a little more elegantly.  Maybe.

The bottom line is that there is an INTERNAL issue that keeps the Chargers from breaking through.  I’ve been complaining about it and now I might finally have some proof.
