Chad Henne Is Entitled To His Opinion

Chad Henne isn’t super-fond of Tim Tebow as a Quarterback prospect, but I think he told the wrong people his opinion.  In the media we’ve got some people who are ready to pounce and force anyone to retract or backtrack on something they said.  Personally, I think we forgot about the whole “It’s a free country” thing.  It’s not going to hurt if the defacto starting Quarterback of a marginal playoff contender in the NFL says that someone who is going to have to scrap their way into the 2nd or 3rd Round isn’t ready to play in the NFL.

“My judgment is that he’s not an NFL quarterback. I’ll leave it at that.”

Then the media complained and:

“I didn’t really say he wasn’t able to be one.  We’re all in this process, learning how to be an NFL quarterback. Obviously, he’s taken the right steps to improve his game. His throwing motion actually looks a lot better with his release and everything. I think his pro day went really well, and he was happy with it. I can’t really say anything. My quarterback coach from college is coaching him in college. We’re coming from the same people.”

“He’s obviously learned from a lot of good people. And with Urban Meyer up there, he’s learned from the best. Those [comments] were way out of proportion, ‘he’s not going to be an NFL quarterback.’ Wherever he goes, he’s going to make that team better because he’s such a competitor and a great person.”

Yes, the retraction sounds completely fake because that poor guy shouldn’t have had to make it in the first place.  If John Randle could tell Quarterbacks he was going to eat them for breakfast AND he just got elected to the Hall of Fame then Chad Henne is entitled to his opinion.

I’m just saying…
